FAQ
Clear answers about digital X-ray services at Pickens.
X-rays help evaluate possible broken bones, joint dislocations, and arthritis. Chest X-rays can help identify pneumonia and other chest conditions. Your provider will review your symptoms and examine you to determine whether an X-ray is the right next step.
An X-ray may be performed during your visit when medically appropriate and imaging staff are available. Contact your preferred location to confirm availability. If you already have an order from another provider, call ahead to ask about scheduling and what to bring.
Many insurance plans cover medically necessary X-rays, although copays, deductibles, or coinsurance may apply. Self-pay costs depend on the body part and number of images needed. Contact us for current pricing and ask whether the estimate includes the office visit and radiology interpretation.
Most routine X-rays use a small amount of radiation and require no special preparation. Wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to remove jewelry or metal near the area being examined. Always tell your provider if you are pregnant or could be pregnant so the most appropriate imaging approach can be chosen.
Depending on the exam and availability, your provider may discuss an initial assessment during your visit. The final radiology report may follow later and can affect your treatment plan. Before leaving, ask how and when you will receive the final results and any follow-up instructions.
